Pre-Order Homefront Now!
Free OnLive Game System & Metro 2033
Every once in a while a film or game comes along that creates a world so vivid and believable that it gives you chills. Homefront, written by John Milius (Apocalypse Now), is one such game.
Set in a future where a foreign invader has broken the U.S. military, occupied America and beaten its citizens into submission, Homefront paints a picture so frightening and riveting that it makes you want to join the Resistance and fight back.
We’re pleased to announce that Homefront will be instantly available to OnLive members on March 15 at midnight. And, when it does, we want you to be able to pick up a controller and soak in the epic, war-torn landscape of Homefront in your living room on your HDTV… so we’re giving you an OnLive Game System for FREE (while supplies last).
Here’s what we’ll do when you pre-order Homefront on the OnLive Game Service:
- We’ll immediately send you a Full PlayPass for instant access to Metro 2033 to hone your shooting skills.
- Then the day Homefront launches, you’ll be able to get an OnLive Game System for just the cost of taxes and shipping so that you can start honing your skills on the big screen in the living room. Yep, a $99 value for FREE.
Something about those THQ games makes us rebellious … get in on this before our Finance department finds out what we’re doing!

This is fantastic! Can’t wait for Homefront. And we were just wondering why there were no preorders on this service, glad to see you guys keeping an eye on the fan discussions!
February 25, 2011 at 3:37 PM
I’ve already got a Microconsole- would I get a second with this (absolutely amazing) deal?
February 25, 2011 at 3:38 PM
Um…….How do I preorder???
February 25, 2011 at 3:54 PM
absolutely great news – I’m going to do this
Excellent !
February 25, 2011 at 3:55 PM
Ditto @ Adam…
Where do I sign?
February 25, 2011 at 3:58 PM
You can sign-up for the service at https://www.onlive.com/go/homefront
Log in to the service and go to the Marketplace. From there, you will see Homefront and be able to pre-order the game.
February 25, 2011 at 4:01 PM
I already bought Metro 2033, can I give my promo code away or is it locked to my account?
February 25, 2011 at 4:28 PM
Does this offer extend to Canadian Onlive users? I hope so. Been waiting to get the Onlive game system up here in Canada.
February 25, 2011 at 4:44 PM
this isnt going to work for australians right?
February 25, 2011 at 5:08 PM
yeah is this offer available for Canadians?
February 25, 2011 at 6:18 PM
I can’t see the offer. When I follow that link, it redirects to my account page.
February 25, 2011 at 6:34 PM
There is no “Marketplace”. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to pre-order Homefront. It’s not in the list of games either.
February 25, 2011 at 6:38 PM
You need to log in to the service to access the Marketplace. You can either click on the Homefront banner or scroll to the Homefront tile in the list of games.
February 25, 2011 at 7:58 PM
I too had no idea how to preorder this game, even after reading the replies from OnLive. They say “You need to log in to the service to access the Marketplace” and then post a link and we think it means go to https://www.onlive.com/go/homefront and then login with our username/pw and we’ll see the offer. Nope. Here’s the correct way:
1) open the OnLive launcher program (start -> programs -> OnLive -> OnLive Launcher) and enter login with username/password
2) After the OnLive launcher opens, click “Marketplace” and probably the first thing you’ll see is the special offer at the top that rotates to other offers. It costs $49.99
Maybe the confusion is for people who don’t use OnLive very often – that includes me – I haven’t used it since the free beta ended. Liked the service but money is VERY tight right now. I saw this offer on Twitter and am considering it anyway b/c the free hardware + bonus game is a very good deal
February 26, 2011 at 12:33 AM
Sweet!!! thanks for the nice deal!!
February 26, 2011 at 12:40 AM
Been on the fence about this system for awhile and now because of this deal i bought in and will also be purchasing the playpack when i get my console
February 26, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Spazz, I don’t know if you know but you can get started and order the Playpack now to game on all your PCs with an internet connection. You just have to download the OnLive client.
February 26, 2011 at 12:28 PM
Not going to work in Portugal I guess…
February 26, 2011 at 1:39 PM
What happens if you already have the microconsole & metro 2033?
February 26, 2011 at 1:41 PM
does limited mean I won’t know if I get the hardware until 3/14 or if I order while it shows the offer I’ll get it? The fine print is a little unclear?
February 26, 2011 at 5:58 PM
So, in the small print it says “A limited number of OnLive subscribers will also receive an email after March 14, 2011 (11:59PM PDT) containing a promo code for a FREE OnLive Game System.” Does this mean just a limited amount of people who pre-order will get the system? Is there a chance if I pre-ordered now that I would not receive the console?
February 27, 2011 at 1:30 AM
How many consoles are a part of this deal. If we ordered today, should we be expecting to get a console?
February 27, 2011 at 8:09 AM
According to the terms and conditions, this offer is available only within the United States. Shame as I woulda jumped on this in a heart beat.
“Only valid within the contiguous United States while connected to the OnLive Game Service.”
February 27, 2011 at 10:27 AM
I’m new to OnLive as well (just finally signed up), even though I’ve seen it before on Engadget.com. The one thing that kinda bugged me was having to go back to the website and add my billing information, then go back to the program to purchase a game. I would think it would give you an option right in the program to do it.
February 27, 2011 at 3:59 PM
Okay, so I signed up today, bought the pre-order for Homefront, and redeemed the code for Metro 2033. I feel I have done my due diligence, so now I wait.
If I’m reading everything correctly, I to understand that I SHOULD be able to receive a code for the free (not including tax and shipping, whatever that is) Microconsole on March 15.
What are the probabilities of this ACTUALLY HAPPENING? What is the cost of the “Tax and Shipping”?
March 15 falls just inside of a 30-day chargeback window, so if I don’t get one, I will be doing that through my credit card issuer. Hopefully I won’t have to!
February 27, 2011 at 10:01 PM
Not sure if I should get this deal, it says limited and I don’t want to not end up with a microconsle. Any idea what they mean by limited??
March 3, 2011 at 2:26 PM
YES!!! I will go download this app on my home computer and download HOMEFRONT!!! Thank you ONLIVE!! =) I hope to get a console!
March 4, 2011 at 8:29 PM
I caved in and grabbed it just so I can try out the tiny console.
Its really a good deal.
Been waiting for a nice deal on the Micro console since I started playing on the Onlive service.
Wasn’t too interested in Homefront but I always wanted to try Metro2033 and Homefront looks decent so all in all a good deal to get the console and a new game to play for the price of one.
Can’t wait to try it all out.
Now just need to get my home network back together.
March 10, 2011 at 7:05 AM
You definitely can’t beat this deal. The console alone sells for more than Homefront. If you already have a console, just gift it to a friend.
March 11, 2011 at 10:00 PM
I really want to get this but I don’t know if there aren’t enough of the consoles or not if I get it tomorrow. Oh well, looks like I’m going to have to find out. Tomorrow.
March 14, 2011 at 6:14 AM
So will this be released at Midnight my local time or will this be released midnight for a different timezone. I live on the East Coast so will I be playing Homefront at midnight or 3AM? It would really suck if they made people on the Eastern US wait an extra three hours.
March 14, 2011 at 9:25 PM
Well it is 12AM EST and it is available to everyone.
But where do we order the “free” console? (I say “free” because you still pay shipping and tax)
